MOLE265 792
Yeah the Americans like us helping them out in conflicts they start but they can't help two uk citizens out. F@ckin twats. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/09/09/two-british-couples-abandoned-island-hurricane-face-two-day/
Born Hunter 17,809
We shouldn't be relying on the Americans to rescue our own citizens. In fairness, it's not their job to save every other countries citizens when most of those other countries, including us, are totally negligent to funding our militaries.
Jonjon79 13,358
Didn't they refuse assistance in the Falklands as well? ..... While our ships were being hit with French missiles.

Reagan promised Thatcher the use of a carrier if one of ours was sunk. Otherwise they remained impartial.

scothunter 12,609
I know you have a special love of the states born, and i get what you mean. However if it had been the British army /navy would they have ignored/abandoned a couple of UScitizens. I think not! Im not at all suprised by this unlike most folk i dont have never bought into this "special relationship" between our nations. Only our cowed politicians scrambled about looking for approval from over the pond! America only cares about America and quite honestly most are pig ignorant of the rest of the world. I used to hear the quote "vast majority of yanks dont own a passport" I see that as a good thing lol

Born Hunter 17,809
LOL, it wasn't even US forces folks, it was the Dutch military acting on behalf of the US military/government. The British government had not arranged anything with the Dutch or americans and because we are too pathetic as a nation to actually maintain a decent naval force our ships are still on route there now. The Dutch also saved there own citizens aswell. This is entirely the fault of the British government and the electorate as far as I'm concerned. It's interesting that it's now the American's fault that the British government hadn't made contingency plans to deal with British citizens, in the British Virgin Islands, in the middle of a disaster zone! Did anyone read down to the bit where she criticizes the Foreign Office for lack of action, or is that bit not thread worthy?

I just find it kinda a funny that the last hurricane a couple of weeks ago dropped 50" of water on to one of America's largest cities. $12bn of damage that they've already calculated. Tens of thousands displaced while the city is still pretty much under water. Not even a passing mention. Then everyone gets pissed off when four Brits, who've failed to prepare for the carribbean hurricane season, get shunned by an extremely strained branch of US first responders... You cannot make this shit up!
