Ted Newgent 4,896
went to another farmers land yesterday as he has been baiting hard since sept. we checked his cam pics and that sticker buck from another bait site had turned up there. he has a raised hunting blind which i got him to move to this one acre pasture which has trails coming from all directions.a nice secluded spot, where the deer etc can feed day/night. i get there and the fckn stand is positioned behind two trees with no clear view of the bait............sigh the stand is angled so you have to open two windows,so the cold wind froze me. i had deer coming in all day,but not the one i am after. i sat patiently and dusk is coming. i get a text off the farmer saying he has left the ranch for home at 4.30pm.40 mins left of hunting time. 4.45pm i hear a quad ripping around the field just behind me.its get revved and revved nad fcknnnnnnnng revved. the deer that came in are spooked. 5.10pm i had lost my schitt now and walked back to the truck. i pull into the yard and the farmers helping hand is there,so asked him WTF had happened. ohhhh, that was me ,i was chasing the herd of elk around the field................................... needless to say i flipped my lid on him last day saturday.
Ted Newgent 4,896
just got a text off my mate he has just plugged at nice little buck @650 yards with his 338laupa lol he has been trying to drop a deer with that rifle for a few years. apparently a thru and thru in the rib cage taking out the boiler.he hit the deer and then it ran approx 100yds and dropped. this bugger been rutting hard as he has lost a few tips to his rack EDIT for those inny and exit wound fans out there this is what a 338laupa does to a deer lol front shoulder is just smashed Edited November 29, 2017 by Ted Newgent

DanielG 286
WOW ! What bullet heads was he using at 650 yards that bullet was travelling fairly slow so i cant see why there was that much meat damage, must have been a balistic tip i shot a whitetail with a .375hh at about 50 yards and there was hardly any damage. large calibre bullets dont normally expand much on deer size animals

DanielG 286
a mule deer buck can get up to 400# live weight i shot one around 350# whitetails are a little smaller the largest fallow buck would be about the size of a small whitetail buck in my opinion
