Gun Stock

Hi everyone, I want to try and make my first shotgun stock for my fabarm titan 12cal. What kind of wood would be ideal for this?

Any hardwood will do I suppose.Walnut and beech are the usual suspects.

I had in mind walnut because i think it is very beautiful. I will also look for beech then! Thanks.

Yes walnut is probably the best looking,I suppose it all depends on the colours and of the grain within the piece of wood you get and also depends on how you finish it.I personally like an oil finish but the high grade gloss polished stock finishes you see really bring out the colours etc and look very nice indeed.

Walnut if you make a good job of it will look very nice if you got a good piece of burr to start work on

Since i will try it for the first time i will choose something easy to find and cheap. The good thing is that i have the tools i need and the help of internet!!
