Hawk17 15
So last night I let the dog out and I could hear my 8 week old kit crying from 30 ft away, because it is so small and can't get up and down the ladder I thought it might have fell down and maybe it can't get up and it is trying to get somebody's attention. So when I opened the cage my larger Hob that is 6 months old had hold of it by the neck and just came over with it in his mouth. Like a dog fetching a rabbit, so I tapped him on the head with my phone, just a quick reaction and he dropped the kit the next thing he tried grabbing him again. So I've had to separate them. Has anybody else ever had this? Edited August 19, 2017 by Hawk17 Quote Link to post

The one 8,513
Shouldnt be randy dont think its balls will drop till next spring , maybe playing or putting it in its place Quote Link to post
Hawk17 15
It was a different sound from what they do when they play hard, and it was a Jill kit and there is a Hob same age and no it's balls haven't dropped yet. Do you think it would kill it or not? Quote Link to post
mushroom 13,304
Mate its simple. If you are concerned, then separate them and when it's older reintroduce them 1 Quote Link to post
jiggy 3,209
I gave a female ferret under a year old to a lad a few years ago and it killed and ate his other ferret. Quote Link to post
Hawk17 15
They have been separated until its able to defend itself. The hob doesn't try picking on my strong Euro Jill. Quote Link to post
mushroom 13,304
That's because all Euro ferrets do Euro training, of course. https://youtu.be/-AuIURhCoAA Quote Link to post
Bobtheferret 1,258
Sounds like hob is being randy to me, you sure he is only six months old? Born in January/February?? If he is last years he is probably sex starved. Separate them till kit is bigger and hob out of season and they'll be fine. Quote Link to post
Hawk17 15
The hob is not in season or he would be trying the euro Jill. There was four in together Edited August 19, 2017 by Hawk17 Quote Link to post
The one 8,513
The next question is do they have plenty grub ?. then hes no trying to kill her and eat her Quote Link to post
jiggy 3,209
I was feeding mine raw meat and it still decided to kill and eat the other ferret. Ferret flesh must be tastier than fresh beef mince. Or maybe it was just a bad inclined fcuker? It never attacked my other ferrets. Only killed that one the next day after been moved to other lads house. It could be a territorial thing. It certainly put down a marker that it wasn't going to be pushed around lol. Hawk17 15
The next question is do they have plenty grub ?. then hes no trying to kill her and eat her Of course they have plenty grub, the get alpha ferret food twice daily! The bowl is never empty and they get cat or dog meat on top. They will get rabbit meat too when I get them out working. Quote Link to post

Hawk17 15
Dog or cat meat won't do them any harm! People have fed them on his for years and alpha ferret food is totally healthy. Quote Link to post
