Anybody got any tips for fishing wrasse.i am catching but only small to medium. Other than using hard backed crab any of you got any tips for getting through the smaller ones and catching the bigger ones?

Have you got a mark with deep gully's full of kelp? Rougher the ground the better.

Large live shrimp on the float, just off the kelp.

Remember catching one as a kid off a boat at flambourough head and the skipper said chuck it back as they taste like lead so never got to eat it .So do they taste good.?

I tried eating wrasse last year.

 

Not worth it. They are better off swimming around.

I catch them on full lug and limpets. Bait does barely be in the water sometimes and its fish on. I was hardly catching monsters but they were around a pound and a half.

Try moving around the rock marks a bit, they're very territorial so big ones will hold there own territory.

You've got to find them..

Hard back or peeler crabs and live prawns produce big uns, use simple rigs (you'll lose a few),

As South Hams said I've had some nice ones bouncing jelly lures in the last few years Fiish black Minnie's being very good..
