There is a certain religious festival when the head of the house hold is supposed to slaughter an animal and say some sort of prayer. Every year many many sheep are stolen and have their throats cut in back gardens and alleyways just for a religious cult. I won't say which religion this is.

Plenty rustling still going on in Ireland and its not for religious reasons. One farmer where i stay lost 200 sheep off the top of a mountain in one night. Got to be neighbours or family members robbing off each other to know where the sheep are in the first place also they dont draw attention to themselves being near the land with trailers and they would need dogs to herd them into the trailer. Its farmers stealing off farmers. If your not a local you cant go a walk up a country road here without being noticed and stopped by either a farmer or the Garda.

There was a bit in the Sunday world a while back about a farmer taking live stock and machinery from other farmer's and selling it up the north.
