Growth Plate Damage

Just got the xray results back on my 10mth lurcher, vet says there is growth plate damage to his knee, gave me a load of antiflammotory tablets, do you guys think that the pup will make a full recovery from this injury,and run again,how much rest would you give to apup of this age, thanks to all who offered advice on my previous post concerning this pup.

from what i understand, it depends on a few things, depending on severity of growth plate damage

whether growth plate is just inflamed or minor fracture or totaly seperated ,

also if the dog has a lot of growing left this can be a problem as growth plate damage can stunt growth in that leg.

this is what i have researched lately.

people with a lot more knowledge will hopefully reply.

The vet revived the xray and will have seen a few similar problems so will be the best person to ask in the 1st instance.

Unless its inherited genetic deformity growth plate injuries are usually impact and stress injuries from running dogs to young particularly on hard ground , roads etc . some can recover but its usually a long process .

Got to agree with desertbred

 

That's why it's best to see a vet it's easy to think it's the foot when they holding back leg up but it can be multiple things atb
