A Little Play With The 223 And 35 Grn Reloads

Well after a few months of threatening to do it, I did finally get around to trying it, I decided to try 35 grn homeloads in the 223 and in truth I am impressed, bare in mind that I have the photon 6.5 night vision on, and I find it tricky to zero, in daylight, if any body has any tips on that I would love to hear them, anyway 23 grns of reloaded 7 and a 35 grn vmax head and got this,

First three rounds 100 yds

All in all I thought was really good well worth a try, lightning fast round, has anybody else tried them,

If you managed to get them stabilised they'll be fine out to 200 yards, but I bet they'd struggle in any kind of wind. It's the same story in the 22 Hornet, but you've got the velocity advantage with the 223.

 

40gr V-Max or Nosler's would be a much better choice and they wouldn't drop much more at all.

I have no idea why the photos won't work first time I have had problems with them,I have tried the 40 grn vmax and hollow points, I couldn't resist trying 35 grn in the 223, I load 35 grn for the 22 hornet, so had all the gear on hand,

These are the pictures first was three rounds, the second a further 5 shots 100 yd, with the photon I will fine tune soon,the rotation is wrong on the picture the rounds were all at 6 o'clock ish
