scothunter 12,609
Erwin Rommel superb strategist and even in war time a man with integrity. True story... He got lost in the desert during a battle. He came across a field hospital thinking it was one of his own he stopped off. it actually was a British field hospital. He didn't want to do a runner and give himself away so took the tour offered by one of the Drs who thought he was an officer of a polish unit. Met with injured soldiers and one tent was full of captured injured germans who were stunned when thier field marshall walked in lol Rommel decided to make his excuses and leave as he thought the expressions on his mens faces would give him away, but not before asking the Dr if they needed anything. Dr told him a few things that they were desperately short of rommel said he would see what he could and left. True to his word few days later via some natives he sent the supplies they asked him for.

The Seeker 3,048
Douglas Bader, if any man had an excuse (both legs amputated) for not going to war it was him. A true never say die attitude.
