when do you stop ferreting

hi all when i was growing up was always told only rabbit when there is a R in the month so i normally stop April time an start mid September

just wondering when you all stopping rabbiting etc etc

When the baby ones start bolting about 1st jan 2008.at the rate of the cold weather period.

 

Febuary March time.

all year round for me...... the owners of the land i control wouldnt be too pleased if i said i couldnt ferret & control the rabbits 12 months a year. if it gets over grown, i get at the bushes & brambles with the petrol hedge trimmer a week before i go.

ferreted in summer last year on reqest did not enjoy it but it had to be done..

 

through choice i would stop end of feb begin of march... But if i get asked to go i will

That's good rule of thumb but the rabs have been breeding all year round down here so there are pretty much always young around, or fryers as they are otherwise known. Cheers, D.

I was just about to say stop when the month has a r in it for me i ferret october-early march after that the gun comes out.The way the weather is at the moment Indian summers,floods,etc i don,t think the rabbits know when to breed i suppose it,s down to your location in this island...
