Agree with everything that's been said so far. I took on a 3 year old that was scared of his own shadow and underweight and now is the most loyal affectionate dog I've ever owned and very useful working animal. Only draw back is physically due to his upbringing he can't have a heavy workload but owned him 4 years now and would be lost with out him.

Me Mam runs a greyhound rescue one day gets phone call there's a greyhound lying beside road not far from we're we lived Mam went picked it up was nt a greyhound was saluki grey could hardly stand he was that thin a was 17 at the time and bang in to lamping so he ended up joining my team,done a bit enquring and the dog had been wandered by local lad he had ran it that day and it jacked,how anyone could even think about running a dog in that condition is beyond me anyway Buck gained weight and condition in no time about 6/8 weeks later a decided to give it try on the lamp a think it was October time it was obvious he had only been used daytime, he caught 3 rabbits that night and from then on he never looked back and became a right handy dog had some big bags on lamp and bits and pieces daytime.Local lads who ran with me or knew me started talking about him and word got back to lad who wandered him and he started slating the dog so that New Year's Day at local club things got bit heated and the end result was a match race end of Jan a had never had match before or done massive amounts daytime so anyway date place etc sorted ended up matching near we're dog had jacked Buck killed 2/2 other lads dog 1/2, so if Buck killed his 3rd hare it was over he had bit of a gruller on heavy going around about the 5 min mark infront of lads that were there never went out sight and stopped his hare the other lad tried to buy him back what a fool. That summer Buck took bad started taking fits vets said liver and kidneys were damaged and a had to put him to sleep the idiot that dumped him caused that damage by lack of feeding and running him in bad condition , there's plenty dogs out there lurchers terriers greyhounds in other people's hands would be tools no doubt about it.

you wouldnt believe what that bitch was like when i first met vin years ago after seeing how she is now. he hadnt had her long when we first met, she had been abused allrite. best thing that ever happened to her was vin.

 

after alot of time and patience he now dont leave home on a hunting trip without her.

Some dogs are tried and past on as failures before they have matured,new owner waits a while and the dog can be a different animal a few months down the road.Then you also get dogs that are never going to make the grade,just the way it can be sometimes .
