Allan P 1,150
Often hear and read the phrase, it's not the dog it's the handler or words to that affect. Has anyone actually taken on a supposedly poor dog and turned it into a useful working one. 1 Quote Link to post

Wales1234 5,570
Some dogs just got it and any old dickhead can take them out and they will be fine , others need a gentle hand and entered correctly , my pup now total lose cannon loves hunting loves work and constantly up for it , my blue colliex had to be entered properly and is a strange bitch if someone entered her when she wasn't a ready or to heavy handed she'd properly wouldn't work full stop now Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Some people get too snobby about bringing pups on from an early age... There are plenty of dogs on the market each month where either the dogs pretty decent but the owners a flake and moving on to the next big thing. Or simply the both owner and dog are just not working well together, for a multitude of reasons. Either way, if you've got a decent eye and can see the potential, then take a punt and if you can work well together over the years then the worlds a better place for that. Well done you!! Guest vin
I've got one here..she's nearly 9 now. Rescued and a complete bag of nerves for anyone or anything..took me a long long time and more patience than any man I know to get her where she is today. I would not recommend it for someone who's wanting a serious working dog...But as a moocher and companion/pet deffo. I have seen some very very good dogs that were from rescues. Anyone remember the famous lamping competitions... A rescue dog won that, against some of the best dogs in the country at the time. My old girl is still going strong and keeps the younger dogs on their toes. Quote Link to post
