Met Anyone Famous?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of the famous people I've met , and although I've seen varicose famous people in the flesh , I've not actually "met them or conversed with them .Then I remembered !!! I was queuing to pay for fuel at my local shell garage, the guy in front of me looked familiar, then I realised it was the comedian Jimmy Cricket "remember him"? As he turned around he looked at me and realised he'd been recognised, he smiled and nodded, then he noticed my eyes looking down to check if he was wearing his trademark wellies with the L and R painted on them . He gave a wry smile and said " I always take them off to drive in ". Seemed like a nice guy .

Howard from the Halifax advert and the fella from boyzone and Corrie (so the mrs informs me) is always being a total prick whenever we are in nerja. Think he has a place there and let's just say he chucks a fair bit up his nose.

I use to train at the same gym as Delroy Bryan and Fidel Castro Smith ("Slugger O'Toole"), two of the less known British boxing champions. Sometimes had a bit of a spar with them - cracking lads, both of them - too good for me, mind !

Ingles gym ?

No,no,no.....they're both Nottingham lads !

When I went there it was called The Pulse. Not far from Sneinton market (Tomo might know it). Owned by Tony "Can't for the life of me remember his name" but I think it was Laing - himself a British champion......it was 20 years ago !

If memory serves, Fidel had pretty much called it a day, and Delroy was in his twilight.....like I said, though, both still waaaaay too good for me !

they wouldn't get in the door at ingles........

Brendan Ingle trained and coached Fidel for a time.......it was Ingle that came up with the name "Slugger O'Toole"......

I'll leave it at that, pal ! ;)

Had a pint with...

Fish from Marillion, on his birthday, they had just played the Royal Court and we had a few bevvies in the Penny Farthing next door.

The Damned back in 1989 and Captain Sensible earlier this year.

Chaka Kahn - She drank Guinnes and was lovely!

Piers Morgan, about 10 years ago on the train to Liverpool from Aintree. He gave me a beer and was a cracking bloke..!

Rick Wakeman, we kept the bar open in a hotel in Dartford. I was at a wedding, him playing charity golf. Nice bloke!

Vinny Jones, whilst having a piss in the Continental Club, after Wimbledon played the red shite. Had a few drinks after with John Barns an Jan Molby.

Lenny Maclean, on the door of a club called T's (I think!). We were introduced by a mutual friend.

Always had a good relationship with Clarissa and Johnny whenever we met. Never drank but took plenty of snuff..!

To name just a few. Don't think i'm one to be 'star struck'. I take folk as i find em and those i've mentioned were alright...
