Neal 1,888
Whenever I think about this subject I always remember seeing a stand-up routine at Jongleurs in which a comic talking about kids said, "I always thought I wanted three, until I had two and then I knew I only wanted one." When I worked lurchers (quite a while back now) I aimed to have a four year gap between them for reasons mentioned above re retired dog, working dog and youngster. So you'd end up with three to four. I never managed to do it until I had the pure kelpies when the four year gap kind of happened accidentally. However, I then realised that, because the kelpies had a longer working life, I could have actually had a longer gap. But, as somebody else pointed out, things don't always go to plan. Three years ago I had an amazing fifteen year old, a very worky seven year old and a pup with loads of potential...now the old fella is no longer with me, the ten year old has duff feet (but can still go all day) and the pup (after an RTA) is puffing like a bellows after just half an hour in the wood. neems 2,406
Depends what you do with them,if you have a lot of permission and can work them together of a day it could work out,but if you're lamping alone with just one at a time I could see it being like a full time job. 1 Quote Link to post
