minion 29
Does anyone work, or has anyone seen one work hare? Are they fast enough for hare? or better suited to rabits? I dont mean a 1/2 cross x 3/4 cross, i mean produced by crossing a 3/4 collie 1/4 grey x a pure grey - the only way as far as i know to get guaranteed 3/8 collie 5/8 greyphound? cheeers PS does anyone have one bred the other way - half cross to 3/4? would be intresting to see if someone had bred a litter and kept tabs on all the pups to see if they turned out a level litter? Guest SJM
A mate of mine bred some from a 3/4 collie bitch to a greyhound dog, I think they turned out pretty good, a lad on smoochers has one and says its served him well. Im planning on doing that breeding myself in the future as its the only collie cross I havent tried yet Ive seen a few half x 3/4s and they have been decent Quote Link to post

Correct me if Im wrong but 3/8 5/8ths is from breeding a 3/4 cross back to a half cross. or somet similar 3/4 Grey cros Back to a pure grey dilutes the Collie more you would have 1/8th Colilie and 7/8ths Grey Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
I think minion means crossing a 3/4 collie 1/4 grey to a grey not a 3/4 grey 1/4 collie to a grey Quote Link to post
MikeTheDog 153
Better suited to rabbits imo although they will give longears a good run.. Edited December 19, 2007 by MikeTheDog Quote Link to post
Chaz 6
My 3/8 5/8 bitch has caught a couple of hares on the lamp, but has never been behind one in the day so could not say for sure whether thay would take daytime hares or not but my guessing would be that she would take some daytime hares but forget the 100yd slips She is a genuine 3/8 5/8 from everyones friend David Hancock Quote Link to post
Moorman 1 1,391
I have a 3/8 5/8 from a reverse 3/4 to a greyhound. He is ten now and is still serving me well ( although he has slowed up somewhat due to arthitus).I also know of people that run theirs regularly on hare and they do very well. They are a good cross that seem to do well at whatever you use them mostly for. minion 29
I think minion means crossing a 3/4 collie 1/4 grey to a grey not a 3/4 grey 1/4 collie to a grey yea thats what I ment. 3/4 collie x 1/4 greyhound. would a litter of 3/4 gery 1/4 collie x 3/4 grey 1/4 collie breed a level litter. Or would it end up mixed like breeding 2 x 1/2 crosses together? Quote Link to post
