150 bulb have the heat on now i will steady the bitch down, give the bitch lactol thats as good as anything, when you put the lamp on have it so the bitch is not pantin about 2 1/2 to three foot off her she will keep close to them ,make sure there or no drafts it will knock your pups back pm me if you wont to ,hope that helps you ;)

Matey, i shouldn't worry about doing anything except making sure you have got plenty of Newspapers handy and making sure the Bitch is fit enough.

After that just leave her to it, Border's are good natural whelpers and the Bitch will be hot enough without a Heat lamp being on her, in fact, in my opinion it would probably distress her more than comfort her if it was on.

Let her get used to her new surroundings a few day's before she calves and make sure the box floor is covered in newspaper. She will 'nest' before she calves generally and can rip all the paper up herself.

After she has finished and is settled, i mean well settled, take her out and clean the snot up, put fresh newspaper, a bit of old cloth, towel or the like in for her again, put the heat lamp on and leave her to it.

After a week or two i put some Vet bed in with them as it is easier for the pups to crawl around on, the newspaper stays in a thickish base layer as a form of insulation.

My own 'whelping box' is an MFO box from the Army and is just the right size but you can use anything you want really, some animals even dig holes in the ground and have them there.:tongue2:
