mark.a 0
Theres one thing for certain, I would have needed a good scope to shoot the bugger as I would have had to have been in the next valley. I would not like to have been near that thing if I winged it with my first shot. :11:

Guest thunderbelly
Kodiak browns are just well fed grizzlies that live on Kodiak Island. But that's one nice bear there.
Kye 77
Yeah, Kodiaks are just a bear that lives on an island...imo, although it looks a very large bear, the hunter is just sat a fair way BEHIND the bear...still a nice one though,.. A friend of mine (ranked third in the world at hand gun hunting) shot one last season...he shoots single shot pistols...having only one shot, he had to wait as the bear charged him...the bear was so close when he fired, he had back spray from the bears blood on the muzzle of the pistol!...the season before that, he shot one as it was mauling the guide...mental! Ive spoekn to some guides up there, and they have dropped HUGE bears with small calibers...one guys swears buy the 30/30...he told me.."A bruin is easy to kill if you stalk him...if you get a broadside shot, he should go down without fail...all you need is a nice little deer gun...the real problems start when they charge, as there head makes up and down movement when they gallop...thats when you need a big calibre to drop them!"... Kye,..
J Darcy 5,871
no, the kodiak is a huge brown bear....the grizzly is a smaller brown bear that is defined as a grizz, by its geographical location... Although they are one and the same, they are, in fact, different is size and distribution.....the kodiak is of a different sub species as the brown and the grizz.... Guest HAWKEYE
Turk would have lamped that !!!!!! Im in a bit two minds other this.....Yes it is a fantastic acheivement and what a photo for a mere 22 year old to have...But surely a fantastic animal such as that deserves to be admired rather than expired ..... It reminds me of pics ive seen of colonial safaris, With huge lions , rhinos , elephants etc. lying dead with some hen pecked skinny glasses wearing geek cradling a blunderbuss type weapon inanely grinning...It makes me wanna go back in time and kick his sepia tinged ass , if they only knew what havoc they eventually caused
