Do I soak it before boiling?

 

How long do I boil it for?

No need to soak it, just bring it to the boil and simmer until it 'just' starts to split open and the white kernel is just showing. A tip... as you are bringing it to the boil make sure you keep stirring as it floats on the water until it is sodden, otherwise you will end up with hemp all over the cooker, so an oversized pot is a help. As soon as it was at the split stage I strained it out and cooled it in cold water to stop the cooking process.

Always soaked mine over night before boiling,seemed to split quicker in fact iv always soaked any partical type baits just the way I do it

John Wilson hemp prep was night before fishing put hemp in bucket then boil kettle and poor over hemp till water has just covered then put lid on and leave.

This way you don't risk loosing any oil from over boiling.

Soak for 24 hours and cook until split is the way I do it.If u are going to add any salt don't do it until cooked,if you add it beforehand the hemp won't split

Yes just cover and leave overnight keep the water with it don't drain.

Lots of ways to prep hemp I used to use a pressure cooker for all my particles as in my mind it sealed all the goodness in, the tricky part with hemp was always presenting it on the hook

I'm not using it on the hook....it's just feed, trying to get through big shoals of perch. Thinking of trying sweet corn caster and pellet on the hook but I'm feeding every night with as much cereal and particle as I can

If you want to avoid perch stick with corn.

There are other things, but think of it this way they are hoovering the bottom clean of silt and crap.

Bigger fish will move in and push them out sometimes you have to suffer the bits to get to the bigguns

Coolbox it.... fill three quarters full, cover in boiling water, leave overnight

I do it like Chaff, metal bucket with a lid, wash hemp under tap, chuck in bucket and cover with boiling water and leave outside, job done.

As above , and then add some hemp oil , can't beat hemp and corn, had some great carp on that

For hemp oil, look in Tesco for Good Oil, third of the price that tackle shops sell it for

 

And if you have the stomach for it lol, as it fooking stinks, prepare your hemp overnight once split, transfer to a large bucket with a seal able lid add two whole buld's of garlic, cover in water and allow to ferment for two weeks, i advise wearing a mask and latex gloves when you transfer to another bucket....
