I think I tend to think on similar lines to you regarding this, but it is subjective. You only have to look at the thatcher years, in the southeast you were laughing, in the north you were fcuked. Some people thought they'd never had it so good when Blair first stepped in, even I thought it was a good thing at first!! Hahaha........& look what happened there? I had a mate out here on the wkend with his family, a really lovely fella. He is a self confessed left wing liberal & a hunter, infact my wife asked how we got on so well? Haha.....We didn't see eye to eye on the reasons why people voted for Brexit etc etc........but he lives an idyllic life in the countryside. Like I say, it can be so subjective according to your experience in life. I've never really been able to decide what camp I'm in. My heart leans slightly to the left, but my head leans straight back to the right! Haha......, but I know one thing, both Conservatives & Labour have both had their equal share in fcuking this country. If you look at the boom time in the last 40 years was it to do with politics? The Thatcher years were when baby boomers were in full swing and productivity was high. When Blair stepped in we were kicking off the technological revolution. Big investments in computers, research and development. How we're coversing now is a direct result of that. That wasn't down to politics, it was down to circumstance. I don't think it would have mattered who was in power. I think (hope !!) our generation is having a look and saying "fool me once shame on you......."..........a lot of us thought we were doing the right thing, we read the newspapers, watched the TV news etc Now with hindsight we realise that it was and is all bollocks and we have been used.....big time. Hopefully now, at least we know what to look out for. Nik and I were posting on the Trump thread to a similar topic. I used to think I was well read because I read different [what I thought were] quality newspapers. You eventually realise you're being sold an agenda and you reach the point where you want the truth so you learn to sift through the nonsense and focus on the meat of the issue. In 2017 when anyone with an internet connection can be a journalist it's time to really start teaching people how to sift through the nonsense. It's a sad day when YouTube is the go to source for pretty much everything. Especially when it's contributors are often paid to push an agenda..... 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
