Can be bigger depending on population density, 400 miles is the territory of a known puma in the states fitted with a tracker, ??

But going by what the experts say the population of these 250+ big cats shouldn't be too sparse as they are mainly situated in the southern regions, that means plenty of food and mates on the doorstep.

You and your expert friends must be supping that strong cider if you think that has the dimensions of a male leopard.

I've been interested in big cats since I was a nipper, send your experts to my cab and I'll set them straight.

I'll say it again, that ain't no leopard.

I 100% believe there are Big Cats out there. Between early 80's and 2000 there were weekly sightings down here in the South Hams and Dartmoor strangely more of a Black Big Cat. I have heard many accounts of sighting from a Farmers son who's father seen it twice on their farm and the lads sister who had one land in front of her as it leaped over a hedge into a green land and jump the opposite hedge. Also good friends and countrymen that have seen them while working on a house or out shooting. Another mate seen one laid in the middle of a country lane it got up and leapt over a six foot hedge on his way fishing with his niece who saw it as well. All liars of course or just a figment of their imagination. These people are good country folk I like them and trust them.

In about 2000 there was a Black Big Cat getting sighted almost weekly and seemed to be on the move ( maybe why it was getting sighted). If remember rightly it was first sighted down near the Dartmoor Zoo not far from Plymouth it seem to be traveling east towards were I lived. Every few days another sighting it was getting closer I was convinced our paths would cross to the point my lad and I bought some three inch SPSG twelve gauge shells. Well it didn't happen the cat seemed to be traveling the wrong side of the river Dart towards the coast. Well next it was spotted between Dartmouth and Brixham so it had crossed the river, next right near Brixham then Paignton where there is another Zoo. But it seem to carry on was spotted near Torquay after that to be honest I can't remember and it had past us by so sort of lost interest.

Theres a little village called Loddiswell about ten miles south of me that was a hot spot for sightings at one time almost weekly and still from time to time now. Most sighting by country folk are not reported none of my friends or Farmers that have told me about their sighting have reported to Police or press.

I don't think to many people would argue with the fact that cats may well have been released in the 70's and early 80's (perhaps earlier for all I know). There must have been escapees over the years as well.

Big cats tend to live between approx 10-20 years in the wild. So anything seen early 80's to 2000 will be dead.

The question is simply down to breeding now, have any of the very small number out there historically met and bred, unlikely is an understatement.

Extremely unlikely as there's always a conflict of species, there's no evidence at all to suggest leopards breed with pumas and produce fertile offspring.

Think you right right to some degree mate, certainly not the amount of sightings now that there was back along. I do think there maybe pockets of breeding Big Cats, Dorset seems to be a hot spot now. I often wonder about that cat that was heading east then seemed to move up the coast recon looking for a mate, may have found one in Dorset.

I also believe we may have a small amount of Lynx as there seems to still be sightings of them from time to time and the terrain down here would be more suited to then.

I agree that doesn't look like a cat, what would you say it was Greb, pretty weird looking up close.
