To be honest mate there is an attempt to get the scaling done as we speak but I would say personally that video does not need scaling, it is quite clearly a puma, everyone I,ve shown the original to agree, even foxdropper almost admitted it before backtracking a normal cats tail would barely show up on thermal which is why I stuck a still up of the tail as it is clearly massive, I,ve probably seen more hoax’s than anyone which also makes this video so exciting, the hardest part of the scaling is not giving to much away as there are a lot of identifying features there and it is on someone’s perm, and one of the only conditions the guy asked when he handed it over was his plot isn’t identified in anyway so we have to respect that but pictures and hopefully some bone samples will follow soon ??

Width of tree to length of cat could be done from the picture as a quick scale. this would not take into account the distance the cat is from the tree mind but it would give an indication if the width of the tree was known.

It honestly looks like a housecat to me. In fact, it looks to be in someone's back garden. If that's a large animal, then that's one hell of a massive tree it's under. Just what I see from the footage lad.

Totally agree mate, the other part of the equation that is impossible for me to portray is the fact the bloke filming it has hunted over this land for many many years and he knows exactly what it is, he has probably spent more nights out in the wild than many of our so called hunters on here will ever manage if they lived for two lifetimes, anyways sorry I can’t give you all the answers at once but I still have a family, life and full time job so everything else is as and when but as soon as more comes up it will get posted, ?

I thought it  was all cobblers. I have been out in the country side all my life and never seen a thing. Then and I think I mentioned it before most likely in this thread. One evening I was cycling on some back roads. Just crested the top of hill and on the left was a forestry block. I looked up and saw what was basically a bobcat type animal. It was jet black it froze as it crossed the road and looked at me. I looked down to unclip my stupid shoes and when I looked backup it was gone. I remember it well because I wouldn't say it sent a chill but it was like more of a wow moment.  That was my one and only time in my 53 years on this planet. Could just been a posh pet cat who knows but sure did look wild but then all bloody cats do. It was bloody big too

terryd, I can tell by how you wrote that, that your not a bull shitter. You don't pretend to have all the answers, and just relating what you saw. ?

Unfortunately mate mc dull was off out to get us some thermal of feral cats about a week ago to prove your exact point but has so far let us down as was foxdropper going to post thermal of a Siamese to prove his point, but again failed to deliver, the buildings around it are the reason the scaling is taking some time and yes it is a very big tree, I,ve suggested taking a big dog there and getting some thermal of it to highlight the size but for now we will just have to wait and see, ??

? clearly a puma ? i thought you was on the wind up greyman do you honestly believe that’s a puma ? it’s tiny a house cat what’s that tree next to it am american redwood ?

look how close the camera man is a fox would look double the size at that distance and what makes you think a tail won’t show on thermal ? as i’ve said the closer you are the more out a focus wider the image looks ?

Magoo, you obviously don't need any help with your eyesight.

You can tell a blackbird from a starling, at 500 yards.

As you said you,ll just pop out and get some thermal of feral cats to prove your point mate, I know you won’t but it’s ok no one expects it so hows this for a comparison for you feral cat at much closer range you can clearly see the tail is exactly the same NOT but why let a little thing like that ruin your argument ??

This thing with cats tails and thermal, Obviously thermal shows heat. If say a cat is in cold weather than the body will tend to reduce blood flow to the extremities as this is where it cools the quickest, so a cold tail is like us with cold fingers, less heat then less heat signature, again in wet weather thermal effectiveness is reduced.
