He means just under 10lbs/ft pressure at the ouch end ,legals is a maximum power of 12lb/ft before you need a F.A.C ,hence the advice to get a kit fitted .The extra power will help if you go down the pigeon/bunny bashing route ensuring clean kills ,best range and still keep you legal ,Enjoy it nice rifle to have atb

BSA lightning was my first air rifle. I loved it . Someone more knowledgeable that me will explain how to up the power but after that's done if you wanted all you have to do is get a decent scope , good pellets and a gun bag and your set

I hunted with one of the first Lightenings out.

I found it to have a heavy recoil and no scope mount stayed put, other than a Sports Match mount.

I had a .22 cal, so I would suspect .177 even heavier on recoil.

The newer Lightenings may be a lot better than the originals.

If I had to choose a spring rifle today, for all round work, I think I might lean towards HW and Air Arms.

Cheapest "Tune" is to fit a Titan mainspring ,theyre £18.50 from John Knibbs on t,internet ,but most gun shops keep them in.Depends how far you want to go with it ,some will total strip n clean it then replace all the seals and polish the internals.A great way to learn all about your rifle.

Some go to a specialist and have the nuts tuned into it,if your not into big spends just ask your gunsmith how much for him to fit you a Titan, and while he does that a new breach seal is only a couple of quid atb and enjoy

They are good rifles, but BSA are on a hiding to nothing as so many want to slag and belittle them. To my mind they will do the job just as well as any other rifle. The thing that most amuses me is that so many long for that feeling once had in their childhood with springers, when they get it, it looks to me they do not like it.

If someone was to give me an Air Arms or a Weihrauch would I say no? no I would not but when it was time for me to give my cash I gave it for a .177 and .22 BSA Lightning XL SE rifles new from the factory.

Just in my opinion

All the very best

Of late the BSA lighting has been getting some good feedback , nice looking gun , nice weight and goes to the shoulder well , like any gun ,it needs a bit of work including HW , airarms and lgv /lgu guns
