mackem 26,977
Find where the aerator or where a stream or summat runs into lake or pond if ye must fish in heat an cast in there I fish in Thailand when I am over there 38 degrees brilliant sunshine and the fish bite all day long, but they have oxygenator paddles churning up the water on some lakes,as you said an aerator
neil r 1,861
Just had a couple of hours trying to catch carp off the top on the fly , pulled out of a good one but couldn't draw the others out from the shade under the lilies. We ended up getting loads of roach , perch , gudgeon , skimmers and tench on the good old blue bottle nymph on the 4 weight

CushtyJook 1,097
Yep no oxygen in the water makes the fish lethargic ...... What socks said I fished France a few year back water was very very hot and they lost a fair amount of fish that' week and the fishing was slow
Nik_B 3,790
Yep no oxygen in the water makes the fish lethargic ...... What socks said I fished France a few year back water was very very hot and they lost a fair amount of fish that' week and the fishing was slow I always fish deep using a fly for trout when it's hot since there is better oxygen levels deep down, when I've seen fish swimming shallow they are impossible to catch and never take any notice of what I present to them. I would prefer to fish in the evening on a summers day, get a good hatch going and the lakes can be bubbling with fish feeding from the surface, a dry fly is the most fun I've ever had and tbh I don't care too much if I don't catch anything...it's the excitement of them knocking the fly or trying to sink it that gets the blood pumping. There was one evening that really stands out, I didn't land a single fish but it was so much fun that I didn't get home till gone 10pm, the wife was pretty pissed off with me since I was only supposed to be gone for a couple of hours So far all the lakes here look like they need a small boat as they're not well kept in the summer but there is some good sea trout and brown trout fishing to be had.....just need the time off....maybe next year eh lol

What socks said I fished France a few year back water was very very hot and they lost a fair amount of fish that' week and the fishing was slowSadly most lakes are run as a business, and people paying money feel hard done by if they don't catch. So the lake owner ends up overstocking resulting in Low oxygen levels and dead fish.Or they use airaters to put oxygen back in the water. Personally its not for me prefer things a bit more natural...
