socks 32,253
You do it your way bud I'll do it mine There's more to training a pup than twating it everytime it fucks up Where did I mention "twating" a pup .... plenty on here have seen my dogs and how they are trained and everyone can confirm that I don't lay a hand on my pups or dogs ... maybe some of us can train a dog and some find locking them up far easier .......

Phil Lloyd 10,738
Don't worry about your pup's seemingly odd behaviour,..it will pass,. My one basic ruling with a new pup, is to spend plenty of time with it,... Forget formal training,...just make the tyke,..your bestest pal.... Everything else will fall into place. Kay 3,709
Thanks for the input lads , some varied opinions & all food for thought, at the min I am letting her be a pup but not to the point where she will hurt herself or chew stuff that will harm her. I do crate her for 3 hours in total when I go to work at tea time, she isnt keen on the crate but at least she cant get into mischief she is enjoying her walks & greets other dogs with normal puppy enthusiasm . She is strong willed & great fun all rolled into a little longdog but with that terrier attitude I have managed to keep her off me spuds which she was cheerfully demolishing Pic was taken after a digging session
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Plenty of time for training. Personally I just let a pup be a pup and let ut see enough stimulation to tire it out periidicalky .ime ,and only mine,i have seen pups go on to adulthood with issues if not allowed to be a pup .Don't worry about your humping pup Kay ,all will come right and by the looks of her she's on the road to be a well balanced bitch. Shutting dogs away ain't my thing nor yours Kay I suspect . Seems to fit with control freaks and those who shouldn't own dogs in the first place . Just an observation based on life .

She is loving her walks , I am trying to get her to play with me rather than just taz round for 10 second bursts as I do worry a bit about her damaging her legs by to much running to soon ... so i got a flirt pole which she will try & catch the rag when i pull it on the grass ... not sure how long it will last in her hands mid you

arcticgun 4,548
seen the humping behaviour in many litters as the pups are playing about its as natural as mouthing or leg pulling, seen plenty bitch pups doing it as well, smallest bitch n litter doing it too the largest dog pups looks funny, and yea it does seem to happen when one looses interest in play when I reflect on it, not a massive fan of crating myself, but some say it gives them a calm space of their own, my dogs have that its called the house I'm lucky the wife practical and knows the odd bit of damage is inevitable when you have pups, but to be fair, give them plenty of time and exercise, plus bones and you get little damage imho Edited July 25, 2017 by arcticgun
