I no it's been done to death but did many people run whippets on ,fox,hare,what ever I no there a little small but having had two bull whippets myself I just wanted to see other people's outings or views and I no horses for courses just curious to hear thanks .

When you own and hunt a Whippet it is often best to be honest,they are a fantastic mutt at what they do best and a very poor 3rd choice every other time.

Seen whippets and small whippet types punch well above there wait on allsorts pre ban and within the law. May not be best choice for owt bigger than rabbits but there a good bit of fun and I love the way they run.

Morton I don't own a whippet or anything similar but I've seen a couple with very big hearts especially non peds a lad I'm out with got a bitch that surprised me when I seen her doing abit more than rabbits.

Got two 3/4 whippets,i used to hold them back when a fox appeared but seeing them on one recently,my opinion has changed.They still pretend they don't see feral cats when out,after a towling when younger.

spot on , i had none ped bitch and she was great at rabbits day/night , she was only 20in 20lb , when she got old a hare , but as she was soft mouth the hare would pull her around a bit lol . Now the males down the track , they were different ball game they were 22-23in up to 34 lb tough/strong little buggers and you could see the staff in the head in lot of the males , as none ped had staff and grey in there gens few yeas back . now these kill foxes and take few hares in the day , but in the lamp they were very good deff . but like been said they could never hack the work load/terrain like a good lurcher can, But if you want litte dog for in the house and bit of fun day/night the none ped whippets are great little dogs

I could put some pics up but as it's not mine you'll just have to take my word this bitch is far from useless and never heard her yap I've seen it do a fair bit on the flint and chalk only got about a minute in the tank but always a good run to watch I've also seen another whippet hit a large animal I'm not talking roe and hang on yet seen much bigger lurchers not wanna know. there not for me but I like to see abit of heart in any animal.

 

Like you say bird good for abit of fun might get the mrs a strong non ped one day and see how it goes lol

be great that for your mrs, nice dog pup the none ped males are bang on, she have to watch him with cats though, that little none ped bitch i had was fecker for them, she hit them like bloody bullet right bloody game with the little bugger lol, always on the lead till in the fields best way with her .

seen them ran as a pair and they where very effective on hare and fox , the hares became beyond their abilities soon as the winter kicked on a bit, but they good for the odd ones and when they do its some achievement, game little dogs, many will punch above their weight if allowed

Great little dogs that given the opportunity can punch above their weight. But they don't weigh very much.
