Magpie Diet

Recommended Posts

If we fed magpies to our ferrets here we'd be in big trouble even though they take peoples eyes and cause bike accidents.Don't know if the same birds, but my farm cats eat anything, never touch the maggies.

Surprised you can keep ferrets didn't think they would be classed as indigenous.

Interesting the cats not eating them, must be a different bird over here they are a real pest to all our song birds, and farmers sheep stock particularly during lambing.

Ferrets are banned in Queensland, even though theres no recorded case of ferrets surviving to breed in the wild there.

My personal opinion is if you are scraping the barrel by feeding crow and magpie you either need to stick your ha d in your pocket for dry food or do a better job filling the freezer through the winter.

Hell, buy a cheap air rifle and go to your perm and drop a couple of bunnies or pigeons each week or go for a drive and pickup some fresh roadkill

Just on the subject of freezing . I got quite a few squirells in the freezer. What kind of time frame am I looking at for killing ticks etc

I believe they just drop off soon after they die.

Talking to a mate tonight we have 50+ racing pigeons coming our way the owner having a clear out he said he can't give them away live as they just come back to his loft,so looks like my stinkers are going to have feather lined nests for a while :)
