Calibration Day !

Recommended Posts

Well lads, in my areas today, there is so little wind you could virtually drop a feather vertically.

Had a day like this last year, photos to show you.

So I`m going to take the T Rex and both Feinwerkbau Sports 124 and 127 for full zero`s and calibrations to the same spot.

The classic 127 Sport (.22) has the 1970`s post and cross hair 4x40 Tasco scope on top, so only two points of zero,- cross hair and the peak of post.

Tom`s old Bushmaster 4x38 has a greater distance of accurate shooting on offer, as the distance between cross hair and peak of post, is greater, so I`ll watch for that.

Here`s my T Rex calibration from last year and earlier.

Firstly I get a decent/ good standard of zero

Then I go straight out to 50 yds to make sure my shots are hitting a vertical line, regardless to any target and my groups are good, therefore making sure of no scope cant being present.

Then back to 35 yds and progress with mill dot calibration at 5yd intervals, via the range finder.

Gets results.

84 degrees here with no wind, just popped down to the farm, about 100 crows dropping in on the freshly cut field but just too hot for me.

I fitted a 5mt Thule wind out canopy to the back of the house, 3.5mt in depth so it is warm shade and gin/tonic today and bugger the shooting although I may be tempted to have a walk out about 10pm for a few bunnies as I know someone who wants some.
