Hw80 Blank Canvas

Recommended Posts

Picked this HW80 up a couple of days ago on a local face-book classifieds. Got it for next to nothing, the guy is immigrating and clearing all his stuff he didn't realize what he had or didn't care.

Plan do something nice with it. It has been painted but not a bad thing as it has protected it also hid what it actually was ;) . It is clean and no pitting underneath so the paint will be the first to go. Stock also been rather enthusiastically rubbed down and varnished, the checkering nearly sanded right off so that will need sorted too.

She bucks a bit but the port hasn't been bored out so a tune up should help with that. Grouping reasonably free-standing at 20yards, couple of fliers but probably me as much as the gun.

Open to suggestions on the best way to re-blue and generally as get the old girl looking good again.

blue/black need to be spotless clean and I MEAN spotless clean no grease at all "latex glove job before bluing " polished very well down to fine steel wool ,you will probably get a more even finish with a bluing bath rather than a bottle of cold blue (if youve not done one before they can come out a bit patchy with a bottle of blue )i used to have a plastic bath similar to a wallpaper soaking trough as long as it long enough to hold the bits and plastic it will be fine  preparation is EVERYTHING with bluing the more you put in the better your success will be , take your time and you willl be fine youve the skills needed :victory: chequering can be cleaned up with chequering tools slowly ( dont think mine were badly priced i )think blakelys are something similar sounding sells them

here you go have a browse may be of help :victory:

I think i remember reading the hw80 performs best as a fac gun at 18fpe.

Because of the chamber size, piston weight, tranzfer port size and stroke length.

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

FF

Yes mate a standard HW80 is far better in fac
