Lenmcharristar 9,841
It looks eerily like 911 seeing a tall tower belching smoke out. I don't think I'm the only 1 thinking it's a terrorist attack. I hope I'm wrong in thinking that. thats exactly what i was thinking this morning
keepitcovert 842
Heard a report that points the finger at external thermal cladding, when you saw the blaze it did look like the outside of the building was ablaze. Terrible tragedy Edited June 14, 2017 by keepitcovert

Shovel shy 4,033
None of us are fire experts but would a fire need a fair excellerant to put the building up like that. Yea I seen the reports of cladding and gas pipes etc. But if the first flat owner called firebrigade and they responded within 8 mins as reported on sky news how was it do out of control? Genuine question
socks 32,253
With the amount of high ris accomodation we have in this country why haven't we got a helicopter like the American and Canadians use that scoop up thousands of gallons of water in a huge bucket and hover a building fire and drop the lot practically putting out the fire in one foul swoop .........I was over in Spain last year and there was a huge fire that raged for two days , they had planes and helicopters flat out all day it was like pissin on a bonfire ..the helicopters hold about a half a ton of water it didn't seem to make a Hugh amount of difference and they can't fly after darkIMG_2465.JPGThe skill of the pilots had to be seen to believe ,this was filling up at a farmers water tank about twenty ft across .. A bush fire that's spreading like "wildfire" is far different to a contained fire like that tower block and a chinook helicopter which we have plenty of can carry a hell of a lot more water than the normal run of the mill helicopter ..... two massive drops from a chinook would have made a hell of a lot of difference to that fire ....... ChrisJones 7,975
What a horrible tragedy. When the story broke, last night over here, my first thoughts were terrorism. NPR article quotes... Local residents said they had warned local authorities about fire issues in the building, a public housing block built in 1974 and containing 120 homes, according to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.'We've complained to council,' said Edward Daffarn, 55, who said nothing had been done to improve safety. 'I consider this mass murder.' It's going to be a while before the causes are known, but the scale of blaze is incredible. If the local authorities haven't implemented fire safety procedures, and it's found to be at fault for the magnitude of the fire, what then? Will we see accountability or will this be another one where it's quietly swept away? Edited June 14, 2017 by ChrisJones
lanesra 3,994
An horrific way to go , if you where above a fire that powerful you'd soon realise it's likely your going to die either by smoke/heat or jumping , As has been said by others I'd rather sleep in a tent in Hyde park than live in a tower block .

jiggy 3,209
To coin the title of another thread Why Is It Always About The Fuc*ing Muslims... Worse than the f***ing BBC. its about them because the building was full of them. Hence the ones looking to kill them all last week that are calling it a terrible tragedy today are A bunch of hypocrites.
