ginge2k6 0
I have got a ColliexWhippet at the moment, just starting him on some bunnies. Hopefully take him out lamping tonight or some time this week, I have found him to be a loyal and obediant dog but these dogs aren't been bred a lot, in fact mine came from an accidental mating, why is this? I know a few people have had them and found them to be good workers but why aren't there a lot of them about now, considering the popularity of colliexGreyhounds, Your opinions please. Netter 0
I don't think there is anything wrong with them, but I think it's due to litter wastage. Quote Link to post
ginge2k6 0
I don't think there is anything wrong with them, but I think it's due to litter wastage. You may be right there. I am pleased with my pup so far but I am yet to see him tested properly. He is about 10 months old now so plenty of time for that. In Plummers book The Complete Lurcher he claims that ColliexWhippets don't breed true and thats all he had to say. Can anyone clear this up for me I just want to know a bit more about the breed. porkypowell 2
gtomo, I pushed him to hard as a pup a classic mistake I know but we all make mistakes. He was the only whippet collie cross I have owned so I can`t compare him to another of the type. He was about 19" tts a strong dog but didn`t have the turning ability of the whippet seemed to throw more collie that I would of liked. I think the type of collie is all important in this breed otherwise they might turn out a bit heavy and can`t carry it off like the greyhound collie`s. This is just my opinion based on limited experience would I get an another one Yes only as a ferreting dog as the collie does give much needed brains. ginge, I wish you all the best and if your dog gives you half as much pleasure as mine did you`ll be a happy bunny. I had one for 8 years great little dog, work to ferret, good on the lamp, would take rat, and would climb trees after squirrel.. Quote Link to post
