A Classic Tale To Remember For Years.

Recommended Posts

Well lads I went down to one of the permissions tonight to chip away at the rabbit population, I took the FWB Sport 124, full leaf suit, primos, with a perfect, checked zero on the Sport.

It was quiet to say the least.

Anyways, after about half an hour, the first rabbit presented itself at approx.` 23 yds. The motion of cocking the already loaded rifle spooked the rabbit.

In total, the motion of cocking the springer, spooked another three close range, wary rabbits.

This got me thinking HW 100`s for this pest control from now on when I noticed a touch of movement behind a hedge line, just 46 yds away.

I quietly, as i possibly could, cocked the FWB Sport in readiness, sat her on top of the Primos and the stage was set. She is zeroed to strike a match, out to 50 yds !

I could not believe my eyes :icon_eek: !!!

No wonder the rabbits are so flighty, - in all my years shooting, 50 "ish",I`ve never had anything like this, a huge dog fox came round the hedge line, stopped instantly and stared at the bush, holding a rifle, - ME in the leaf suit ! :icon_redface: .

My cross hair was on his head in a flash, my mind and instincts, " screamed, take him" !!! " then reality kicked in"- I`m holding my air rifle, - just a pop gun and no where near powerful enough for this job. :nono::cray:

This was a split second stand off lads and I so, so, wanted to take him !

By his right paw was a white chipping stone, I put a perfect one mill dot hold over on it and sent it spinning.

Charlie absolutely shit himself and was away in an instant,- the length of his long tail, loosely whipped round and followed him in a flash, - he was gone !

I`ll never forget hitting that chipping, smack on, it spinning away with the ricochet sound and that fox shitting bricks.

WHAT A NIGHT :boogy: still buzzin` yet !!!

p.s. - obviously no photos lads, so just take my word for it, if you will. -- atb
