terryd 8,383
I had that happen. But I read it is quite a fiddly op. I ended up having him castrated in the end Quote Link to post
ollieollie 766
Be interested to hear what your vet has to say about it Quote Link to post
Lamper121 239
Did you have the test done after the operation? They usually offer for a sample to be analyzed to see if the op was successful Quote Link to post
beany01 223
How successful is the snip? I've heard a lot of stories where it failed initially, and also the hobs taking the Jill's out, but the next year being on both barrels again! Quote Link to post
The one 8,463
Well if they haven't removed the sperm tubes what the fluck have they removed ?. i had that done to me once and they asked if i only had the one hob , them i said what about the kits who's going to feed them ? they said we will redo the operation i said for free and its going to be worse the second time round as your dealing with scar tissue , then they said you can put a card in the window for free to sell the kits thats normally a pound a week after i finished laughing i said big feckin deal They always ask if you want to send the bits they have removed to the lab to see they have cut the right bits and its the same price as a vasectomy, i like that to getting your car serviced then paying for another garage to see its been done right After my experience i keep the hob away longer than they say test him on one jill then wait another 8 weeks so there's no way he can be fertile The best one i heard was a mate got his snipped and covered all his jills then lent him out and he was still fertile there was a few unhappy owners and hutchful of kits here that year Quote Link to post
Lamper121 239
I never got the test done I admit but the poor hob died before he got a chance to get his leg over so I'll never know if it was successful or not! Quote Link to post
samuria 331
no test offered after the op... will be calling the vet tomorrow Quote Link to post
Aussie Whip 4,090
It's not just the looking after, finding suitable homes, but having your ferrets layed up for weeks.Good side, you might have produced a champion worker. Quote Link to post

terryd 8,383
they send away the removed bit to see if its the correct part. Mine was going to charge an extra few quid for the privilege so I didn't bother and wallah a nice bunch of kits a few months later which the mum promptly ate Quote Link to post

The one 8,463
Same here i run the snipped hob with 11 jills all year and he sorts them out as needed , but when i first got him done he was in solitary for 2 months then tried on one jill and i waited another two months before i let him loose on the rest , or i could of been facing 100 + kits Quote Link to post

That's their duty in the first place! Quote Link to post
