Shaddy93 840
Abit off the subject of lurchers but thought I'd just post this photo as I know some aren't lucky enough to see scenes like this, there is a lot of muntjac around here but on three different occasions in the past two weeks I have seen muntys in places iv never seen them, they seem to spreading around here at the minute, I spotted this little bugger in the field as I was driving up towards it I pulled the van over and turned the ignition off, it did nothing more than picked its head up and trotted right upto is no more than ten yards away before walking back to the over hanging tree where it stayed eating leaves for about half an hour, always found these deer shy and weary but this one was on par with your average urban fox, could it be the time of year?? 3 Quote Link to post
mackem 26,209
Munties are everywhere,i have seen them in London,i have seen them in places they aren't even supposed to be,they pop up in the most unexpected of places just like urban fox,i am trying to put a crystal clear quite nice pic I took of one from a distance of around 10 feet but it keeps saying upload skipped (error 301) for some reason? 1 Quote Link to post
Saltmoon 2,208
How do you even put pics on here I've pics of 5 roe mid day by our local asda store!! There are so many roe deer round me there all in woods by an industrial estate if you go night time you can drive right next to them some run other dont it's bloody nuts and as there are so many I see them most mornings when I'm off to work it has sort of spoilt it a tad I still love seeing them and always slow down to get a good look the rare occasion has now gone but still amazing beasts Quote Link to post
Penda 3,341
The muntjacs have exploded round by me over the last 20 years well we think it's a new thing them coming into urban areas but I was talking to one of my dads mates a few years back and he said he could remember here the bark of muntjac backs coming down the local brook in search of a mate way back in the early 70s now this is a built up area probably more built up now then it was but still built up so it just shows that these deer follow the same paths that were made many years ago by there ancesters 1 Quote Link to post

I find stuff like that fascinatingtheres a spot all not that far from me in a busy area where there's a wood many years ago that wood was one of the biggest woods in the area there were a lot of fallow that used to roam far the area but when they put the dual carriage way through and they put a lot of main roads in that area the wood was made small and the deer had to be fenced in there still there to this day it's a managed wood but you'll get a glance of the feeding up the side of the fence every now and again it's great to see Quote Link to post

roybo 2,873
Seem them in a park ,that's surrounded in every direction by houses for miles ,the only way in would be the railway that borders it . But it's not only Muntjac that are close to towns saw a decent herd of red hinds close to a housing estate on playing fields ,must have been 18-20 strong Quote Link to post
