First Kill For The Ultra

Recommended Posts

It's taken a while. I've had this for around a month now but, it's taken a bit of time to find a pellet that I'm confident with.

I had a few good candidates but, they generally all went awry at distance.

After a few tests at Black Cat, I had the reticle mapped out with FTTs - last week, they were hitting the edges of a can and spinning it from 58yrds.

Today me and Mark (the one with the posh stocks, not the noisy one) took a walk around the big permission for a few hours.

We only got 1 squirrel each but, it was good to be out

.... We found a good couple of areas that'll be well worth a visit with NV.

As we came down through the woods and over the stream, Mark spotted the first one, moving along the ground at the base of a tree - a standing shot from his Cricket soon finished that one off

Mine came a little later in a different woods.

I caught some movement high up among the leaves.

I had to take the shot free hand at a small part that I could see. The FTT went exactly where I wanted, up through the neck and, brought it straight down to the ground

Nice shooting mate , that looks a tidy setup you have there . Very nice ☺

Mike☺

Cheers Mike

It works well mate - the butt pad is probably a bit OTT for hunting but, it makes the rifle come up perfectly

I reckon Rezs post would make perfect sense if I'd been on the beers as well

Ethan does do very well his Ultra

I had a standard se a while ago and, to be honest, it was a feckin nightmare - the power curve on it was a right ballache.

This one's an Ultramax se - it's a little bigger than the one I had before. Although it still has a power curve, it's very shallow over 50 shots

The funny thing is, being a smaller rifle, I actually find it twitchy on the shooting stick but, pretty stable for standing shots.

..... I haven't got any permissions that I can drive around but, it's a pretty good little woodland rifle
