Getting To Grips With The 22 Hornet

Recommended Posts

Really starting to put some serious trigger time into my CZ527 22 Hornet and what a beauty of a calibre it really is.

I'm kicking myself for not putting more time in with it over the last 12 months since a bought it and what a fantastic little vermin calibre it is, too.

I've put in the range time with my pet load using 40gr V-Max, 12.5gr of Lil Gun, CCI primers and Winchester brass.

Validated the trajectory today at 250 yards and clover leafed the three shots. Just as I'd finished my calculations a rabbit popped out at 340 yards..

2.4MRAD of elevation adjustment was needed on the Falcon Menace M18 scope and I held slightly to the left of the rabbit's head to account for the 1-2mph L/R wind.

Dropped him cleanly with a well-placed headshot :)

Loving the Hornet!

The Hornet always was a good calibre, more recent ammo improvements have made it even better, strange how calibres can simply go out of fashion.

The WMR is another that has most definitely benefited from new ammo (although I have always liked the WMR), and it seems to me the Hornet and WMR are making a bit of a comeback!

Dropped another two rabbits today, 315 yards and a nice 402 yard headshot. 3.5MRAD and 0.8 MRAD for the 3mph 90 degree wind. The 40gr V-Max are doing me proud.

what scope you got on it Elliot, ???? Edited by 3175darren

I'm using a Falcon Menace M18. Not had the time long, but it seems to be doing the trick

Cheers I need to look for something with a finer reticule,I only have a hawk on mine, but it's very accurate, for foxing it's been spot on, I will re-scope but I do not want to put anything too heavy on it, I won't be doing anything much beyond 250 yds,
