Saltmoon 2,208
Hi lads, I thought I'd settled on what I wanted and that was going to be hancock but now after reading lots on here I'm not sure as it's such a split subject. I will be getting a lurcher in the next few months however I'm just not sure on what. It will be a house dog that will be used for rabbiting I used to have a racy bull x that was a right s**t but that's how he was and I loved him for it anyway and accepted it. So my question is is anyone or dose anyone now of any litters being planned and what they would be? I live in Devon but will travel Midlands way Wales and all between possibly more. roybo 2,873
Just have a lurcher to lurcher that parents catch decent bags week in week out ,and set your sights higher than rabbits dogs ,as you may decide you want more later. I'd personally Keep away from people who breed for a living. But that's might be just me... Best of luck finding what you want. 4 Quote Link to post
Saltmoon 2,208
Well that's sort of what I've come to as I've read hancock once said his dogs our to valuable to be working so if like 2 good solid working parents so just putting some feelers out there and seeing what turns up Quote Link to post

Broxi 32
I was the same mate I was thinking of getting a Hancock 3/4greyhound 1/4collie but some of the stuff you read puts you right off going to him Quote Link to post
Saltmoon 2,208
Yeah but it's so split some swear by his dogs and others wouldn't dream of it but I suppose it's all personal preference really. I'm after a good solid rabbit dog that will also be in the house so a farmed profit dog just didn't feel right Quote Link to post
Broxi 32
Aye there's lots of different opinions mate, I won't be getting a pup until after my holiday in September so I will wait and see what's about then, good luck with whatever you choose mate Quote Link to post

blackmaggie 3,376
How much graft you have for your dog or what sort of ground you hoping to run that may sway you a certain way like roybo said you may decide you want more or might get unexpected chances at something that crops up having something that can take those chances might be worth thinking about rather than a specialized rabbit dog Quote Link to post
Saltmoon 2,208
I've got some of my old permission back that's hilly ground also hoping to get some farms just off the moorland so hilly hard running ground I used to run a racy bull x but although very good dogs at there job I found mine also others didn't have very good brakes and was a bit to game which ended up in him going lame a fair amount Quote Link to post
