pointer 543
The area my dogs live in cost me £10,000 alone to build ....... Same here, well the whole set up anyway with kennel block, concreted yard, hawk aviary and horse stable. When I worked a lurcher I was going to the dales 3/4 times a week at £15/£20 a time and a fiver spent most other days in the week to kill rats with them or a bit of lamping more local. Food has never cost much, vet bills have varied from nothing some years to a couple of grand. One year we had to shell out £5000 on a ponies treatment. I spent a few years travelling around Britain following hounds staying at B&Bs most weekends with a few full weeks away and those seasons Hunting cost more than any others. Now I work a hawk and two pointers which costs about the same in diesel as the lurchers did but I avoid the vet fees I had with terriers and lurchers from hunting injuries but my ancient crop of retired dogs has cost me £4000 in the last three years. My hawk is insured for £ a year but I've had vet bills of around £500 in the last five years so it's been worth the cost. My hunting costs less now but my fishing costs a lot, I can spend £500 each year in one week fishing in the Canaries and a couple of grand on top of that here. Thinking about it me and my lass work full time and all our spare cash goes on hunting, fishing and a bloody horse. I'll never have money in the bank but I enjoy myself doing the things I want to do.
