FBI 'warned MI5 in January that Salman Abedi was planning terror attack in UK'

British intelligence agency MI5 was reportedly warned by its US counterpart that Salman Abedi was planning an attack on UK soil, three months before he blew himself up outside an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

FBI agents are said to have informed British officials that the 22-year-old was part of a North African Islamic State cell based in the north west of England that was plotting an attack in the UK.

Abedi was reportedly placed on a US terrorist watch list in 2016 after he came to the attention of intelligence agencies during an investigation into terrorist groups operating in Libya.

Clam down flower all I said was the folk who go over to Syria to fight in the war against ISIS are brave folk who I take my hat off to, something I would have thought any right minded person could agree with

I apologise for the verbals i just hate this automatic assumption that a relatively small group of scum are a daunting proposition just because they are scum......i dont claim to know anything about military tactics or how things get done but i do know the basics of human nature on an individual level and how a lack of strong reaction creates over confidence ....if the worlds most powerful military forces decided to im told they could wipe Isis and anyone who looked like Isis off the face of the earth in an afternoon.....hence " just because they dont doesnt mean they cant "

Don't worry about it I've been called worse and emotions were understandably running high.

I've no doubt if the full might of Western militaries was brought to bear on ISIS they'd be "wiped out" in short order and that they're not the most formidable opponents but the folk going over there aren't fighting with the full might of Western militaries backing them, they're going over there to face bullets and bombs in the fight against ISIS with nothing but minimal training and a Kalashnikov, I really can't see how it's so offensive to say that those are some brave folk

That might explain why US official leaked info before our own police admitted it was a suicide attack.

I wonder how many sackings and resignations will happen.....probably zero

Fixed that for you pal ;)

Maybe we'll get an inquiry 10 years down the line and we'll be assured lessons have been learnt and the same mistakes won't happen again, until next time...

I'm sure it was embarrassing for May to be told that one of her pet Libyan "freedom fighters", who she let travel to Libya to fight no questions asked, was going to commit a terrorist attack in the UK but just burying her head in the sand and not acting on the intelligence is truly disgusting. Blood on her hands

Bold statement mate and one I think is now impossible .

Well that was explained to me by a couple of chaps far more qualified than you or i and when broken down it wasnt too difficult to believe if the numbers are any way accurate.

For the reason you just said....having a fight against Julian Clary with your hands tied behind your back doesnt make him any more formidable as an opponent.
