mr practice 27
hi there guys i was looking at these 2 pellets was wondering if they would be good for hunting. 1 is the h & n barracuda extreme 2 gamo i THINK not sure they have a steel ball in the top of the pellet, with that one not sure if its a gimmick or if they work. but the barracuda extreme is supposed to be a good vermin killer hits hard and squashes well on impact. you guys will tell me if they are worth it or not,as h&n and rws arnt cheap i wanted to know if they are gonna do this registration thing like in scotland, cos i dunno airgunning is attracting more people old young. and it seems if they do a waste of police time and a waste of recources. it is as if you get something good and it gets really popular then they want to bollocks things up with red tape, we have never had any messing about with airguns really in britain i DONT THINK anyway, except the 18 rule to own or buy keep it in a bag to and fro until you get to your permission. or club but it would be a real real shame if they do it complete crap, i have not read a new airgun mag yet but WHAT IS the best one to get b.t.w. i know there is quite a few of them now, i think years ago there was AIRGUN WORLD i think and that was it well cheers guys stay safe and happy hunting. dave leeds Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
If it's these that you're looking at Dave, they are a good pellet but, they'd still need testing for accuracy in your rifle. ..... At sub 12ftlb velocities they'll never expand how the manufacturer intended but, the cross cut into the nose gives them a greater frontal area - this in turn helps to impact quite a punch The Gamo one with the ball in the tip is likely to be a gimmick. I've tested a fair few of these and, I've yet to find an accurate one. I'd give it a miss mate. For accuracy and hunting, you really can't beat a good quality lead, round head, Diablo - JSB Exacts, Air Arms field, H&N FTT, Falcon Accuracy Plus, Daytate Sovereign ..... Any of these, placed properly, will do the job. As for Air rifle licensing in England - I really can't see it happening to be honest. The doom sayers keep mentioning it but, it'd be such a big, expensive undertaking, I don't think the government or police force would be capable of dealing with it. ...... I sincerely hope I'm not wrong. 2 Quote Link to post
