Bell Target Shooting Evening

Recommended Posts

In the sleepy little village of Lissington, Lincolnshire there is a equally sleepy little pub called The White Hart BUT last night it was not sleepy at all as the place was full of bell target shooters.

Among the visitors were our own Rez (Jamie) and his much better looking other half Jess (lovely lady), my shooting pal Scott, my youngest daughter Katie and of course me. Also in the throng were the current 1000mt world champion but I cannot remember his name, Gary Wain from Airgun World and Ben Skipper from Country Matters magazine. The event and in fact all the shoots from this series have been run by David Carter, development officer for Lincolnshire Small Bore Rifle Assoc. and much credit must go to him.

Shooters age ranged from 10 years old to .................ermmmm.......................me in the mid sixties :victory:

It was really good to meet up with Jamie at last and Jess who both got involved and had their turn at the bell target as did we all. That in itself was a bit of an issue as the pub used a small pool room and only one target was up slowing down the proceedings somewhat but while waiting to shoot it gave us all good chance to chat and long may it continue.

The concept of this event was very well received by everyone there with cheers going out for every time the bell was hit and the smile on my daughter's face when she hit the bell was very very wide indeed.

Here are a few photo's of the night. Sorry for image quality, I should have taken my camera instead of the phone.

A VERY rare chance to see our Jamie's face as it is usually hidden behind a scarf

Jess was not going to be left out and gave a good showing. Please note Jess who is talking while you are doing the business.........

Some old tart who walked in........................................it is NOT my belly, it is just the way I am standing and fluffed up my shirt :whistling:

Winning score of the night of 25.2, three on the inner and two through the hole to bell but no idea who shot it :boogy:

All in all, good introduction to the sport of bell target shooting and I for one am looking forward to the next one and meeting up with Jamie and Jess again later in the month.

It is just a pity that a few more of you guys don't live a bit closer to come and join in.

The next event is 31st May and again 7th June at The Black Horse Inn at Donington on Bain, near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. 7.30pm kick off.

If any of you can get there, it would be great to see you.

This looks like a great night out. How far away is the pub from me in New York?...as in Lincolnshire. The village that never sleeps! It'll be great to pop over enjoy a pint or two with you Phil and Jamie and his good lady and indulge in a bit of target shooting. I could get into this.

Would my Daystate Regal .177 be alright here. It's all legal sub 12 ft/lb power output??

You folks are always welcome to visit me here too. A nice drink or three and the garden range. It's all blooming great just now...

How nice is that!

I must admit Simon that I hoped it would be a distance that was not out of the way for you. Looking at the planner below, it is approx 20 miles / 35mins but perhaps you need to check it out in case I have not got that right.

The rule is that the gun has to be open sights, .177 but they have an AA200 and I have an AA200t plus a springer for people to use so really all we need is you mate. It is only 6mt so unless you are going to do a few of them, not worth setting something up just for a trial evening.

It would be lovely to see you again Simon
