Guest little_lloyd
Today i had arranged to ferret a small three hole warren in one of the gardens i work on in the gardening side of things. Only took one jill as it was not a very big warren,,, Used the longnet all the way around,, And the first one manganged to get under the longnet and on its way to freedom Anyway thr second bolted and was well and truly caught up,,..And was quickly dispatched. 5 minutes had passed and i heard some sqaubling and screeching of a rabbit,,The ferret has layed up and was located,,,Started digging 9 am and did not reach her untill 1 pm ,,Alough she was not very very deep The houseowner told me that it used to be a ditch they filled in with rubble and shite I was digging most of the day through boulders, corrugated iron, mesh and varios other shite. I did not think i would get Thunder out but stayed determent to get her out safely and i reached her at 1 pm roughly,, She was stuck,.,..No sighn on rabbit tho I would have to say she would be a gonner if i have not have used a locator,, Im very gratefull she is sleeping in my the court tonight and not in a rocky grave. I think old thunder will have a rest for a week or two now Quote Link to post
Guest Magwitch
Good going there LL thats why i think a locator's worth it weight in gold no amount of fieldcraft would have got your jill back for you. well done for keeping at it Quote Link to post

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Gash piles can be a bind. I've worked a great many myself. Interesting bit of a story there, Lloyd. Only, I'm left puzzled: How come a whole rabbit got clean out of there and yet ye jill was stuck for all that time? Four hours. All that commotion. She wasn't able to walk out like the rabbit did? Wow. That's Bad, isn't it? She got in and then stuck fast and couldn't get out? Not a 'Lay Up' or 'Arse Up'. Ye say yeself, the rabbit was long gone. So, help me gain an understanding of the situation here, please: How, exactly, was she stuck? What kept her in one spot for four hectic hours? Quote Link to post

If only i knew where that rabbit was Ditch,, iIwas more concerned about my ferret tho,,, I dont think a rabbit would fit in the gap my ferret was in,, My only thought are she left the kill and carried on looking for more And manged to get agmost all the rocks and shite and could not find her way out , She was ontro it tho as she had blood on her mask and fur on the claws. Im just happy shes home. Its a mystery Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Looks like remaining a 'mystery' then, Lloyd. Dreadfull to think how many wild mustalids must just get into places, tackle rabbits and then become stuck fast like that. Hey; Maybe someone else here can offer an explanation for all this, given the information ye've supplied us? Quote Link to post
