Rowan 308
Sunday , had a call from a very distressed lady , telling me she had hundreds of wasps in her house ,,,,Hmmm. After asking what i thought where all the right questions and her still being frantic on the end off the phone and telling me with a few explitives that she F in knew what wasps where , i told her there would be a call out charge if they where honey bees. . Yes, you guessed it , honey bees swarming and not even inside her house , but by the conservatory . I charged her the callout , gave a number off a beekeeper i know and home for tea. Not the first wasp nest at all. Ask loads of questions and quote a callout ... . Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
We always charge for call outs, if I had a tenner every time someone "knew" what their problem pest was I would be having some nice holidays on it!! Been to loads of "wasp" nests this year already. Honeybees and bumblebees everywhere at the mo. Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,844
I've done 4 wasp nests now. 3 of them I managed to save the Queen and send her on her way to find a new home? I've saved one honey bee nest and had to destroy another. Done 8 various other bee nests which had to go, mainly builders and roofers who had broken them open. Rehomed one nest in a bird box, going to move some from a hayledge stack tomorrow. Going to be a massive year I reckon, Queen wasps everywhere Edited May 14, 2017 by DIDO.1 1 Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,844
50 plus calls for bees and 'wasps' today Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
Lots of bees around for sure! Quote Link to post
PLEDGEY 496
Bees won't sting while they are just a swarm on a bush/tree or what ever. Get a card board box and shake them in it. The idea is to just get the queen in there. Put the box on the floor and if the Queen's in there you'll see all the other bees make their way in to the box. Bee keeper bloke that I got to get rid of a swarm showed me how to do it. He also said that a box full of bees with an active Queen is worth about £150. Quote Link to post
budgie123 163
Done my first wasp nest treatment today just a starter nest in a shed with a single queen. Workers were not too far from emerging. The first nest i did last year was 24 of june so nearly a month earlier. Work mates have also treated some with one already having workers in it. Quote Link to post
