Greyman 28,852
A week is barely any time to see it all, if you have a car worth driving up the Wye valley and stopping off at Ross and haye on Wye the man of Ross is a good pub for grub also little Dean goal is a really interesting day out if it rains, you have the steam trains at lydney,Simmons yat, clearwell caves, cannop ponds and tintern abbey that should keep you going for a week, I,ve been going over for more than forty years but still keep finding little gems, I,m hoping to move over there in the next five years as I like it so much
forest of dean redneck 11,699
Good shout greyman ,I've lived here since 2004 so forget about places clearwell caves are good, and cannop, hay on wyes good for books but bit of a trek from the Wye valley,I'd personally avoid Hereford unless you got to,as its always gridlocked either with accidents or roadworks. Catbrook above tintern is nice woodland walk with picnic area with bbqs

Catbrook above tintern is nice woodland walk with picnic area with bbqs I stumbled on the little Dean goal last year had a wet day to kill so popped over must say it's an incredible place if you have not been, some real history plus a shed load of other things, it was the courthouse and local prison but has become the home to some really fascinating stuff it don't look that big from outside but the amount of interesting stuff jammed inside would take a week to take in, but a word of caution if you have kids there are plenty of titties on show and some quite graphic videos playing in some of the rooms, he even has a collection of Victorian sex toys, I used to go fishing at cannop when I was around 10 before there was even a road up there we used to drive up to the train yard near yorkley then drive along the disused train line to get there, and an old boy with a scooter and sidecar used to come and take our money his ticket machine filled up the whole sidecar

forest of dean redneck 11,699
Staying in Monmouth, but will have the motor. That circle is about a half hr drive methinks...yokelJust googled it as didn't know it existed yeah maybe bit more depending on traffic, pretty route would be over Wye bridge turn right at roundabout by lidls, then down Redbook rd,along the Wye river through brockweir, tintern then chepstow onto caldicot way etc,its a windey road, but boring if stuck behind someone doing 30mph or cyclists,Quickest would be turn right up by Monmouth petrol station,go out of town, past the tip/recycling center then turn left at old toll house,go through trellech (there is couple old stones on left in trellech) then through to devauden there is some nice views on the right looking across to the brecons this way ,then drop-down into chepstow by the racecourse and turn right to go up to the big roundabout then turn right on to caldicot and on to wentwood. Myself I would go there via the last route an come back to Monmouth via tintern as you get to see lot of scenery. Nice little book shop in tintern as well.
