Shredded Paper Or Straw ?

I use something called unibed its chopped medicated straw. Think it's for horses, that does ok for me.

Read the post as it dosnt mention pups. Have used straw for 30 years ,bag it and take it back to farm when cleaned out .

I've tried that stuff rf-gone back to shavings now though-found it hard to sweep up when wet and blocking the gaps under the panels when hosing out.atb dc

As long as their not bedded in 4 inches of dogsh1t it doesn't really matter. Everyone has their preferences.

As long as the dogs are kept warm and dry is all that matters really. I like to fluff the waxed bedding up every couple of days to air it out and change it every couple of weeks.

waxed paper inside a bed sheet,with a cable tie..like a beanbag..just dump it every so often no mess.

what ive seen done before in fox hound kennels was thick sheets of areo board or that king span insulation placed on the ground gravel or on sand and a layer of plaster cement plastered on over it then.no damp can come up through the insulation.its usually 2 ft high.

Tea bag paper bedding for me.......warm, absorbant, next to no dust and clean. I get mine from the place i get my meat

Ive used the waxed paoer and never again,the f***ing thing was stuck to the kennel floors like shit to a blanket and the lose stuff got down the drainage system blocking it,f***ing nightmare.I have wooden benchs well up of the floor and plastic fish boxes on top for the sleeping area,there warm draught free and no mess.

I use an old memory foam pillow.

 

After a while they lose their shape a little so I get new ones, and the dogs get my old ones. Keeps them warm in winter and cool in summer

You probably don't have this over there but I ​ ​used sugarcane mulch one time which is like straw but smells sweet,in my ferret nest boxes.Two days later had one dead and one sick ferret.don't know if was the mulch but never used it again for bedding.

I've tried shredding paper , hay , carpet , quilts , the lot and all my dogs do is pull it out there boxes and piss on it or rip it to bits , so don't put nowt down now let them sleep on the wood beds

I use badger pelts in Hungary ther clean warm tough and soft and if any mess just blast em off and dry em and for some reason they don't chew them up
