ALL READY PUT THE DOWELS IN JEFF BEFORE I SAW THE PM MATE BUT IV WALNUT STAINED THEM ANY WAY BUD .

 

Right lads i know i say,d i was not doing any more for a while BUT after nelly painted the rifle

 

then sold it to Jeff ,,,Jeff ask,d me for a big favor

 

and as Jeff has put him self out for me and Viz in the past i could not say no to him

 

he is a good friend to us both so iv set about it for him

 

Jeff still a ways to go yet bud but she is coming along nicely.

 

just got to smooth her out now mate

Thats the way they are when new bud its like stippling and not checkering on the rapids

 

i removed the paint from this with paint stripper and a soft wire brush this part of the stock has had no sand paper on it what so ever as sand paper would make it smooth and remove all the stippling .

Sorry why they like that ? i know the chequering can build up with sweat grease ect and a rub with a toothbrush cleans them so i take it a wipe with a baby wipe or similar would clean it ?.

Right Jeff it was not as bad as first thought mate

 

just put the first coat of tung oil on her for you

 

a nice thick coat this will be left to sink in for an hour or so then wiped off then left until the morning

 

and buffed first then another coat will be put on if need be

just wiped the remaining oil off her now she will be left until morning Jeff

 

its one hell of a grain in her mate

even better now iv had my hands on her and fetched the grain out

 

so if you ever get a rapid that needs the stock sorting just gis a call mate and ill sort it for you
