shocker 4
Hello all, just joined this fine site. I am a disabled, mainly wheelchair bound, recently put-out-to-grass farmer, ex- river/gamekeeper, stockman, hedgelayer, engineer...well. all sorts, you get the picture. I am currently in S.E Cornwall and still have strong family connections with livestock farming. I have recently joined a local Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club as this gives me access to the shooting that my mobility problems have kept me from. I currently own air rifles, all .22 calibre - Webley Vulcan, AGS PRC-1, Cometa 300 and an old BSA Cadet that the Mrs shoots. We both shoot live at the club, mainly .22LR but sometimes .38SP/.357Mag and .44 Black Powder. Occasional shotgun outings but neither of us are currently FAC or Shotgun Licensed. I am a fair shot with longs but in the past focused more on shorts, handguns/pistols. I am looking at getting a CO2 pistol to try and regain some of my handgun skills that have been hampered by head injuries (car crash) that have left me with altered co-ordination and grip stability. The Mrs is an excellent shot and will be competing before long. I have also been a keen fisherman all of my life, more recently for trout/sea trout and have been a keen fly tier. I used to help the Salmon and Trout Assoc. with the Trout casting accuracy competition judging at the CLA Game Fair (as was) each summer. Again, mobility has curtailed much of my fishing. Being from farming stock most outdoors tasks are in my skillset, though mobility...etc etc. Welding/fabrication and motor mechanics are still a part of my life as I run a 30 year old Range Rover Classic V8 as my daily drive. The Mrs is an electronics engineer with light engineering experience, currently specialising in computers and cryptography. She is a fine all round musician, favouring the classical guitar. I am a keen but basically awful musician, mainly guitar but hampered by...well, I blame the car crash. Thats a brief summing up, I hope its sufficient for all concerned. I have come across this forum many times on various searches and am looking forward to participating. The nick-name "Shocker" was earned many, many years ago when I had much more energy. Hopefully people will see that it doesnt describe my behaviour these days ! Much.

Theres loads of talented people here and so much good info that it will keep me busy (and stop me actually doing anything else!) for a while. I have made a few posts already and Im sure, if I can behave myself, will be making many more. Im home!
shocker 4
Forgot to say...sad day, just had to have the last of my gun dogs put down. I had three yellow Labs that I trained from puppies to work rough shooting with me. Harry, his sister Sybil and poor Hero who just went, were my constant companions until my accident. Harry and Syb were not the best lookers as far as breed standards go but were naturals, coming from working stock. Hero was show standard, from a Crufts winners line, a great looker but dumb as a bag of rocks. His retrieve lasted about 10ft at which point he had to come back to be reminded what it was he was supposed to be doing, then he would trot off 10ft...and so on. But he was an essential part of the team and resolutely good sprited. I miss them all terribly. Probably the wrong section for the above, but you are nice people and I wanted to share with folks who would understand.
