pianoman 3,587
David Evans Relum Tornado That's a blast from the past,i think a lot of us cut our teeth on twangy-bangy relums,i still remember knocking rabbits (close range) over with mine, great thread I still have a blast from the past lodged in my left cheek-bone courtesy of a Relum Tornado. I was about ten years old and plinking with my little Mk3 Webley .22 in my auntie's back garden, when along comes my (now deceased) cousin pointing his brand-new-from-the-Great Universal-catologue Relum Tornado tap loader .22 straight at me from about five feet away and forgot he'd loaded the bloody thing......Then he pulled the trigger....ouch! and an awful lot of blood all over the lawn....! Still got the Milbro pellet in my cheek. Surgeon couldn't get it out as I was very young and it was so close to my eye. My cousin took an axe and smashed it up and never touched another gun again in his life. 1 Quote Link to post

tomburras 2,730
B45-3... bloody hell. Forgot about them, not seen one of them in years! Had one of them as a kid and had many rabbits and pigeons with it - and many mondays sat at my school desk nursing my finger after trapping it in the pump mechanism lol. 2 Quote Link to post
johnbaz 363
Just found a couple of pics of a couple that i'd forgotten about!!Air Arms Camargue- Same sidelever action as the jackals and the woodstocked sidlever rifles!! ASI Statical, Semi recoiless similar to the TX200SR and Diana mod54 Airking but made years before them!! Not sure if this Brocock Hunter wil;l become collectable in the future!! This is the stock the HUnter came on, I 'won' the thumbhole stock on fleabay for around £70 posted!! Likewise with the BSA Lightning mk1, Not sure if they're still made or whether they would become collectable like the old Airsporters!! Crosman A.I.R.1.7. single stroke pneumatic, It shoots pellets singley or in a 'speed loader; mag or BB's.. I've an old Daisy Powerline too that needs a new set of seals! This Drozd is classed as a pistol but it has a shoulder stock!! It fires steel BB's at 500fps and has an electronic trigger that allows you to fire as fast as you can pull the trigger!! I think the Falcon is a nice old PCP, This one could do with a reblue though as someone put it away damp It shoots well though!! Another project is this old Gem style gun (Think it's smoothbore!), I have all the parts except a piston washer, Mostly these guns didn't have a piston seal but many were converted to a piston seal which improved them no end!!, I also have a .25 barrel for it somewhere!! This sod was doing 14.5 ft lbs when it landed at mine, Chopped the hammer spring until it settled at 11ft labs with Exacts.. Relum 'Telly' or 'Jelly' as it actually says on the badge!! An old Anschutz mod275 that shoots 4.4mm lead balls or actual 'BB' shot that shotties used !! This 78 has had work done, It shoots at a constant 11.7 on the twin Co2 cart setup Well! That's it as the rest are fairly modern stuff!!John 1 Quote Link to post

My cousin took an axe and smashed it up and never touched another gun again in his life. When I was a sprog of around eight years old, I was shot with a new Relum Tornado that had come from the lads mums catalogue too! The lad was around fifteen or sixteen, He asked me to walk out on the waste land, Lie down and tell him where the pellet landed so he knew how far it would shoot!! As kids you don't see the danger in stuff, I walked for what seemed like miles (Me legs were shorter than Arthur Askeys'!!), I got laid down and was ready! First shot landed a few feet in front of me so I pointed, He elevated the gun and the sod got me in my left shoulder!! The pellet didn't go in to my skin but bled profusely!! He was crapping himself as he thought it would get back to his dad and his precious Relum would be smashed and binned!! It was purely accidental caused by by being numpties!! eastcoast 4,220
A Daystate PH6 from 1996. The brass cocking handle is after market, the tiny black toggle that Daystate produced was a travesty on rifle of this quality. My only other criticism is the fixed mag. Obviously the only way of emptying to make safe after use is to fire clean, I have always felt it to be a wasteful and amateurish method but a necessity. One of the first multi-shots though so not a bad effort from Daystate and a very useful rabbiting tool. Semi retired now as I much prefer my AA Pro Sport. Not a better rifle but just a personal choice. A friend has places on particular permissions where rabbits can only be controlled with an airrifle and as he doesn't have one the Daystate is called back into service for a bit of lamping when numbers require reducing. This rifle has never had any maintenance throughout it's life. When called into action the cylinder is filled using the original stirrup pump that was bought at the time, a few dozen pellets put through it to check that power and accuracy are still up to scratch (which is always the case), and zero checked. Then it's out knocking rabbits over at sensible sub 12ft/lb distances. A very well engineered bit of kit. Something that owes me nothing and will be kept and eventually passed on when I pass on. The best of British. 2 Quote Link to post

comanche 3,077
I was about to post some pictures of an old air rifle I was given yesterday and noticed there is a dedicated Tatty Old Air Rifle section! I think it's a generic rifle made by the Midland Gun Co but it's badged as a T Wild. I was going to just repair the splits in the stock but it came apart far easier than any rifle I've stripped before so kept digging deeper. I may be wrong but I guess it has to be 70 or years old. I was impressed by the built-in spring-guides. The one inside the piston also doubles as the trigger tang.A very neat piece of simple but effective engineering Despite the spring turning-out to have a definate kink and the outer washer being torn it fired well enough to put a dent in a bit of wood. The leather for a new washer is soaking as I type and I have a straighter spring salvaged from a scrapped Chinese rifle that looks like a reasonable match for the original. Interesting that the so-called "Powerful" Chinese underlever used a spring of similar dimensions to a workaday veteran of the 1930s! Just to add to the tattyness of the Tatty old Air Rifle section From top; Very tatty 45 year old Relum Telly with non-standard stock and numerous butchery marks(it was my first air rifle.) Less tatty Relum Tornado. Relum Telly as it should look One of the first BSA Supersports;not tatty at all but probably nearly old enough to be classed as a vintage air-rifle and it was made by BSA when they were still British.
