Got a ford ranger & it is giving problems starting ie turn key & nothing ?? Sometimes will start if i keep key in ignition position or when i keep turning key then sometimes starts first turn theres no clicking or such like & if i can park on a slope it will bump start? Any help appreciated as mechanical knowledge very limited. Atb

check that a start signal is being sent to the starter solenoid, if not it`s probably the ignition switch, the plastic bit at the bottom wears then when you turn the key the switch is not turned enough to reach the start position, not too fiddly to do if you have any mechanical skills, either change the switch or pack out the slot (you`ll see what I mean if you remove the switch from the body)

Cheers for replies My mate just been over couple of good whacks on starter motor & now starts. He gonna fit a new one tomoz. Atb
