Solid dividers between each run are a must imo-any sort of gaps and they will do damage-I learnt a long time ago-you be suprised what they will pull through a gap if they kick off and no one's about .I wouldn't want my mrs or little ones having to witness it...each dog in its own kennel and run for me.I won't keep a scrapper these days they gone-in the past I needed eyes in my arse and 100 ltr barrels of water around the yard which I would use to separate the c**ts. Thankfully touch wood those days are gone.atb dc

Can sympathise mate .Used to keep a few at a mates house as he lived in the middle of nowhere but he only had stables that we did our best to turn into kennels .Our best wasn't good enough as we omitted to mesh up the channel that ran the whole length .That Razor dog of mine pulled another dog under and killed it. I very nearly shot him that evening. As you have said dividers are paramount but only if dogs are to spend their time in kennels days and not running the freedom of the garden as I suspect Lees do .I have full mesh to the floor now as I've cut right back on dogs, case of having to .My two bitches now have the garden as a run ,mother and daughter .Just my own opinion but I would say trouble arises with males on the premises,something I sussed years ago and let others carry that burden lol.Two males are a nightmare when bitches break down ,total nightmare .

You are quite right on dogs won't be in runs all day fd I wouldn't b3 building kennels it just I'm moving house to a larger place where I'm able to have a dog yard separate from the family garden . I've only got the 2 bitches and the chocolate pup to cater for but want separate kennels and runs for them just in case Edited May 1, 2017 by leethedog

Lee some lads can get away with multiple dogs in runs-fair play to them,I prefere them to have their own space, more so if they are sore from work.I trust no dog 100% mate because they can and will make you look like a wanker.lost them through fighting in the back of truck when not in boxes when left for 5 mins stopping for a drink in a shop etc-a good dog taken out by a wanker everytime.just because they all been brought up and well socialised together don't mean they won't turn on each other when unsupervised. Part and parcel for some lads but I don't want my kids scared for life after seeing one dog screw another-mrs not happy with me at the best of times lol.these days I only keep what I can give the work too.atb dc

I'd totally agree with you mate that's the reason I'm building some kennels they all mix well at the" MOMENT " be that is no guarantee. Once ive moved house they will only mix with someone ( me or mrs) present . Just to ad the mrs probably spends a couple of hours or more a day out in the garden with the dogs doing what women do teaching them stupid tricks like roll over .speak beg

Lee ive been planning on building kennels myself this summer.

But im moving soon so will hold back till I'm in the new place.

I've been looking at galvanised dog panels and everything in between.

But this is what I'm going to use.

For gates and dividers.super strong and galvanised.

And cheaper than proper made dog panels.

Galvanised walkways.various lengths about so take your pick.

To be honest mate I've had a right result I put the word about with a few people and a friend of a friend who trials cocker spaniels has some second hand panels enough for 3 runs solid bar type 2 half steel plate panels all galvanised and only 2 years old I can have the lot for £100 I only got the call this morning while out on a call out

That's a good price, be aware though that they'll weigh a ton, any might collect dirt, are there any heavy duty weld mesh panels on fleebay?

I haven't looked for heavy duty weld mesh Joe.

These are just a couple of personal thoughts,

 

I do not like the idea of kennels with lower half permanently sheeted, in effect the dogs can only see out the front OR get a view of the sky.

Definitely avoid blocks on the bottom half, soaks and stinks in a short time. Hard to wash down IMO.

 

I would prefer to have two separate panels between each kennel, about 250mm / 10 inches apart.

If your dogs do not get wound up with each other, happy days and the ventilation and view for the dogs across the kennels is open.

 

If you have a pair that get worked up by seeing each other, slide a galvanised sheet between the 10 inch gap between the kennels.

Blocking the dogs seeing each other.

 

Also allows the required 50mm/ 2 inch gap under the panels for hosing out.

Ive used that stock board myself. Its very good,doesnt rot and you can paint it aswell.
