DanielG 286
I found a antler once that was so fresh of the animal, you could still smell the beast. and the rossette was still red.I reckon a dog could find that. the squirrels normally find em first. DanielG 286
the antlers are rich in calcium so the rodents love em
scothunter 12,609
There a cracking set from a red hanging above a cottage door near me. Must have been from a BIG beast.
greenshank1 407
My lab finds them and retrieves them. She has found loads of cast red antlers on the hill and in the woods. Roe antlers are a lot harder to find and I have only found 4 or 5 in all my time in the woods. If it's poor hill ground and high deer numbers the deer eat them as well . My son found a matching pair of cast red antlers a couple of years ago on a wooded bank. I think I posted the pic on the forum. They were laying side by side . The stag must have jumped down and cast them both at the same time.

She wasn't happy I stopped to take her pic as she was carrying the big one. I haven't trained her she just started finding them and retrieving them.
forest of dean redneck 11,686
Didn't that tom on mountain men train his gsp to find shed antlers as he used them for knife handles on his native products he sold.
